Holmen Wisconsin
Kicking Bear Event
July 7th and 8th, 2006

About the Sponsors,

Rattlesnake Ridge Outfitters is located in Casberg Coulee near Holmen, Wisconsin.  The owners are Nancy and Mark Wannemuehler.  Rattlesnake Ridge Outfitters offers a family style atmosphere plus some of the best deer hunting in Western Wisconsin.  Mark and Nancy say “that alone will keep you coming back”.

There are over 1500 acres of oak ridges, food plots, cornfields, ponds, and pines.  There is also an archery pro shop on site.  Their property is extremely well managed.

Mark and Nancy have been hosting Kicking Bear events for several years and have always been involved in helping today’s youth.

Wisconsin Bow Hunters is a non-profit State Association formed for the purpose of promoting the sport of hunting with the bow and arrow; and to promote to that end, the education and to cultivate the social relationship, good sportsmanship and good fellowship of and among its members.  Clintonville, Wisconsin is home to the WBH.  President Wright Allen shares some of the same values as Kicking Bear.  In his most recent message, he stated “take time to enjoy the outdoors, and don’t forget to bring your children along and introduce them to the outdoors and all that nature has to offer.”

About the Event

Kicking Bear One-on-One is a nationwide mentoring program developed by world-renowned bow hunter Ray Howell. The program encourages sportsman to get involved with today’s youth by becoming mentors.  The campouts are a way to introduce our youth to the outdoors and the sport of archery.  It’s target is helping underprivileged children or any child who hasn’t been introduced to the outdoors in order to give them a mentor to look up to. By encouraging others to reach outside their homes and become mentors, we can help put dreams in these kids hearts that will change not only their lives, but their families lives to come.

Camp activities are chosen to involve, challenge, uplift, and educate. Children arrive at Camp Friday afternnon. They get acquainted, and set up their tents, play games, enjoy a nature walk, eat dinner, go for a hayride, and bask in the glow of a large bonfire before an optional night hike and tenting down for the night.

After Saturday morning breakfast, activities include more safety instruction and archery practice. After lunch there is a presentation ceremony, then clean up and departures.
