The Pope & Young
Club/Lewiston Sportsmen’s Club
Kicking Bear Event The Pope & Young Club has chosen to adopt Kicking Bear this year and as a result, will be co-hosting an event with members of the Lewiston Sportsmen’s Club in Lewiston, MN on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, 2006. Ray first met with and talked to Glenn Hisey, the Records Chairman for the Pope & Young Club to generate interest and then later had several conversations with the newly-elected president, M.R. James and with Dr. Warren Strickland, who was also recently elected as the second vice president. These conversations helped establish this praise-worthy relationship. M.R. James, Dr. Warren Strickland, and Glenn Hisey were all instrumental in presenting the Kicking Bear Program to the board and the board saw the potential benefits of aligning the Pope & Young Club with Kicking Bear as a way of introducing all kids to the sport of archery and to the outdoors. With the Pope & Young Club adopting Kicking Bear, many kids who are looking for a positive influence in their lives will have an opportunity to come together with a mentor who would be willing to introduce these kids to the outdoors and the great sport of archery. By taking a kid into the outdoors just a few times, Pope & Young Club members will have an opportunity to positively influence a kid’s life and the life of his or her family to come through archery. This will be a win/win situation as it will create and establish on-going interest in the Pope & Young Club. Glenn Hisey, Dr. Warren Strickland, Kevin Hisey, Executive Secretary of the Pope & Young Club, along with Phil Phillips, Doug Besherse, Rod White, and other out-door celebrities will be attending this event in Lewiston. The Pope & Young Club
is
located in Chatfield,
Minnesota. It is

by promoting quality, fair chase hunting, and sound conservation
practices.
Today it fosters and nourishes bowhunting excellence and acts in the
best
interest of our bowhunting heritage everywhere. The Club promotes and
