Eight Tips to Better Accuracy in the Field By Ray Howell
  1. Use a shorter draw with a slightly bent arm and three anchor points: Release touching under chin, Kisser button touching your canine tooth, and string touching tip of nose.
  2. Your arrow weight should be predominately in front-of-center, so the broad head
    is doing the pulling.
  3. Learn how to properly paper tune your bow
  4. Visually tune your shots to check for abnormalities (planing, whipping, porpoising, etc.) by using bright colored fletching and shooting into a black-faced target at 30-40 yards.
  5. Apply the right amount of helical to your fletching to achieve more control during flight. Even the largest of fixed blade broad heads can be tuned to perfection with the right amount of helical.
  6. Practice with the same equipment as you would use in the field
  7. Wear your hunting clothing while practicing in order to check for any loose fabric that the string might catch on. You may have to sew the bow arm sleeve and chest area tight on your hunting clothing for string clearance.
  8. Practice long range shots to improve your accuracy and confidence at close range.

Become a mentor, take a kid off the streets and introduce him/her to the outdoors...it may be the most rewarding experience of your life!
