| When
I'm in a hunting situation, I like to carry my rangefinder where
it's automatically in my hand when I need it. Then after getting
the reading, being able to free up my hand and let go of the rangefinder
in order to lock my release to the string without having to think
about where the rangefinder went.
One way to accomplish
this is to use one of your old bowstrings or a strap that is long
enough so that your rangefinder will hang down (slightly lower
than your belt line), out of the way, on your right side if you
are right handed. By putting your head and your right arm through
the loop, your rangefinder will always fall to your side out of
the way after using it.
Your rangefinder can
be carried in a protective case attached to your belt until needed.
The case should be made from a quiet material, such as fleece
so when removing the rangefinder at a critical moment, your prey
will not hear it.
The less you have to
think before your shot will put your prey at a serious disadvantage.
